Within 20 minute walking distance

Siebert Park – head out the front door and turn left (north on Willow Ave). At the end of the block you’ll come to an underpass which takes you under the highway and into one of the best parks in the area, Siebert Park. Here you’ll find the excellent Camp Hill Pool (open in summer months), tennis courts, running track, athletic field, playground, and hiking trails through the heavily wooded back section of the park. You will need a keycard to access the tennis courts, running track, and athletic field. Contact your host if you want into those areas.

Cornerstone Coffeehouse 2133 Market St – The quintessential neighborhood coffee house. Frequented by locals around the neighborhood, yet very friendly. Goes beyond your typical coffee shop and provides a nice breakfast and lunch menu with made to order and pre-prepared food. A great option that’s close by.

Watershed Pub  2129 Market St – Newest addition to the Camp Hill business district and definitely worth a visit in the evening hours for a drink and dinner. Operated by the same folks who run the top notch Millworks in Midtown Harrisburg (also worth a visit). Serves great food with craft beers and cocktails.

Cedars Lebanese Cuisine 2153 Market St – small, family owned BYOB featuring Lebanese cuisine in a cozy setting.

Chop Shish 2201 Market St – new addition to the downtown Camp Hill area as of March 2023. Features home-made Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine made by a local father-son duo. Plentiful indoor and outdoor seating available.

Roberto’s Pizza 2000 Market St – maybe a slight cut above Zag’s at least as viewed by the Camp Hill locals, but still the familiar local pizza place menu.

Chef De Crepe 2017 Market St – another new addition to downtown Camp Hill as of March 2023. Inspired by the famous Ladurée House in Paris, this quaint spot serves savory, sweet, and breakfast crepes in true French style.

Cleve Frederickson Public Library 100 N. 19th St – consistently voted one of the best public libraries in South Central PA. Excellent, pleasing design, super comfortable for reading, relaxing, and browsing in the upstairs section, coupled with a huge children’s library on the lower level. Features many public events at no cost.

Shaeffer Park and Playground 2900 Walnut St – for many years there was an elementary school on this location. That’s gone. Now it’s a wide open field with great new playground equipment. Nice option if you have little ones with you.


Within very close driving distance

West Shore Farmers Market 900 Market St– great mix of vendors on the lower level and established shops on the upper level. You’ll find bakeries, vegetable and fruit stands, candy vendor, meat directly from local farms, and more. Limited hours so be sure to check the website.

Ever Grain Brewing 4444 Carlisle Pike – a hometown favorite for food, beer, and hanging out. They feature an outstanding rotating menu of seasonal items, brew their own beer that is sold throughout the region, and have a nice open space for indoor and outdoor enjoyment.

Wild Rabbit Pies & Pints 314 Bridge St, New Cumberland – super fun and relaxed upscale pub by the same folks that brought Ever Grain Brewing to life. Large common tables and a retro arcade make this place unique, and the food is top notch.

El Sol Cantina 3721 Market St – real, authentic Mexican cuisine here on the West Shore, with the original location in downtown Harrisburg. Not overly “Amercanized” and really well done.

Aura Modern Mediterranean 4434 Carlisle Pike – newest addition to West Shore upscale dining, having opened in May 2023. Receiving rave reviews with a modern take on classic Mediterranean favorites.

Duke’s Bar and Grill Riverside 313 S Front St and West at 5302 Carlisle Pike – good option if you’re in the mood for bar food with a wide variety of choices. The Riverside location features indoor and outdoor dining on the west shore of the Susquehanna River. The West location is on the busy Carlisle Pike corridor but does also feature indoor and outdoor seating.

Helenic Kouzina 500 E Main St, Mechanicsburg – solid choice for Greek food in a nicely maintained atmosphere with indoor and outdoor dining.

Trindle Bowl 4695 Trindle Rd – family friendly, great atmosphere, well maintained, why not go bowling? Automatic scoring, shoe rentals, snack stand, and even an indoor mini-golf course.

SkyZone Trampoline Park 95 Gateway Dr – do your kids need somewhere to expend energy? This is the place. Huge trampolines, bouncy spaces, dodgeball, foam ball pits, what’s not to love? Save time by filling out a waiver on their website prior to heading out.

Monkey Joe’s 3608 Hartzdale Dr – for the slightly younger crew that wants to go crazy. Huge array of bouncy houses and activities for kids in elementary school.

Fountainblu Skating Arena 521 Locust Rd, New Cumberland – A little out of the way but this is a fun, affordable way to spend an evening. The DJ keeps things fun with music and activities for the skaters.

Capital City Mall 3506 Capital City Mall Drive – not the biggest indoor mall, it’s only one floor but you’ll find your standard mall shops here.

Camp Hill Shopping Center 58 S 32nd St – the closest, large outdoor shopping center with Giant Food (closest full service grocery store), Barnes and Noble, Five Below, Boscov’s department store, and others.

West Shore Plaza 1200 Market St – another outdoor shopping center with some good options.


Heading over the Susquehanna River into Harrisburg

Zeroday Brewing Company 925 N 3rd St  – the pride of Harrisburg when it comes to local beer brewing

Midtown Cinema 250 Reily St – independent theature featuring independent films you won’t find anywhere else

Yellow Bird Café 1320 N 3rd St – cozy coffee shop offering decent coffee and more extensive menu than Little Amps

Susquehanna Art Museum 1401 N 3rd St – super welcoming and unpretentious art museum with rotating exhibitions and events

Midtown Scholar Bookstore 1302 N 3rd St – this has to be the king of all independent book stores within PA. An amazing array of books covering every imaginable topic. Many live events featuring book signings and live speakers. Ask the friendly staff for a quick tour of the place!

Broad Street Market 1233 N 3rd St – not to be missed if you’re in town on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. 40+ vendors serving some of the best foods, drinks, produce in the area. Has been in continuous operation since 1860.

Millworks 340 Verbeke St – Excellent restaurant, brewery, biergarten featuring on-site artist studios and outdoor courtyard. Focus on hyperlocal (<50 miles) ingredients in their food and drink menu.

High Dive Cocktail Bar 1400 N 3rd St – great new place in 2025, focusing on cocktail drinks but a nice menu as well. Comfortable and not pretentious.

 City Island – large island in the middle of the Susquehanna River, connected by footbridge to downtown Harrisburg. Serves as the home of the minor league baseball team, Harrisburg Senators. Also on City Island there are other activities, most are warm weather based.

Capitol Complex – yep, Harrisburg PA is the capital of the Commonwealth of PA. And this large complex in downtown Harrisburg proves it. Tours available.

The State Museum of Pennsylvania – fairly impressive museum covering PA history and natural resources.

Restaurant Row – downtown Harrisburg has a nice selection of restaurants, most of which are situated along S 2nd St. A wide range of cuisines and price ranges are available.

Midstate Distillery – it doesn’t look like much on the outside but if you enjoy locally distilled spirits done by people who are passionate about their work, check this place out.

Whitaker Center – excellent science center for kids and adults as well as a live performance space for notable musicians and other performers. Always offering new events and exhibits.

Pride of Susquehanna Riverboat tour – why just look at the Susquehanna River when you can be on it!

Amtrak & Greyhound Terminal – take the train or bus into and out of Harrisburg. Amtrak runs several trains per day to Lancaster, then Philadelphia, Newark, and finally New York’s Penn Station in Manhattan (about 3 hours total).

UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital – hopefully you won’t have to be here involuntarily but if you need it, it’s here, right in downtown.


Drive outside of Camp Hill/Harrisburg area

Hershey Park, Chocolate World, Zoo America – this is the big one, the sweetest place on earth. Huge amusement park and waterpark as well as a respectable zoo. Comes with a fairly steep price tag but this is the stuff memories are made of, right? The free option is to trip through Chocolate World which shows you how Hershey’s does what it does. Of course there are many of other ways they will hit you up: gift shop, food court, make your own chocolate, and more.

Giant Center – multi-purpose indoor arena which serves as home to the minor league Hershey Bears as well as a concert venue for many top performers that travel through the area.

PA Farm Show Complex – not just farm shows, whatever they are. Lots of other things. Check out their calendar for an update to date list.

National Civil War Museum – you would think this would be at Gettysburg, PA but it’s not! It’s located just east of Harrisburg and does an excellent job of covering all aspects of the US Civil War.

Lake Tobias Wildlife Park – if you like your zoos up close and personal this place is great. Excellent place to visit with kids.

Antique Automobile Club Museum – for car enthusiasts going back to the beginning of when cars became a thing.

Indian Echo Caverns – great little trip for the family and kids or if you’re really into being underground while alive.

Hollywood Casino– yes, central PA has one of these and if you’re into slots, table games, and betting, this is the place for you. Decent restaurants too.

Gettysburg PA Battlefield – the National Park Service maintained site of the historic battlefield that turned the tide of the US Civil War. About a 40 minute drive south of Harrisburg but not to be missed. Even if you’re not interested in bloody battles that took place 150+ years ago, the town of Gettysburg itself is a super cool little place.

Lancaster PA – the heart of Amish country which has an appeal on it’s own, downtown Lancaster is about the same size of Harrisburg and has many of its own attractions. About a 40 minute drive east of Harrisburg.
